CIRCULAR TO ALL PARENTS, No. 3, 8th October 2009
Dear Parents,
Joint
AGM, Board of Management and Parents’ Association
Monday October 12th,
8.00 p.m. All parents are invited to attend.
Agenda
Independence,
Assembly Period (All Pupils!)
In the last
circular, I asked parents of Junior Infants to allow their child to enter the
classroom him/herself and not to linger. I expressed the hope that all pupils
will have achieved this level of independence by mid-term. I now appeal to
parents of pupils in Senior Infants and older classes to encourage their
children’s independence by allowing them to enter school/classroom themselves.
This approach is best for your child and teachers can use the 8.40-9.00 assembly
period more productively.
Please note that the school accepts no responsibility for pupils before
8.40a.m. ( Even in inclement weather, we can’t let the pupils in before
this time. We’re not insured and they’re your responsibility)
All pupils are
expected to wear the school uniform every day. The school tracksuit may be worn
on timetabled PE days (this does not
include after-school activities). The school tracksuit is the uniform for
Infants and Rang 1.
Most pupils are compliant, but there is a minority who make implementation of
the policy difficult. The parent body chose the uniform and decided the policy a
number of years ago. The design of the uniform leaves considerable scope for
personal preference. Many parents have asked me to adopt a more rigorous
approach in implementing the uniform policy, as non-compliant pupils are making
life more difficult for the majority. Teachers have agreed and I thank you in
anticipation of your cooperation.
The “official” parent-teacher
meetings are scheduled for November. However, teachers have always been generous
with their time and if you have a difficulty or would like to discuss something,
please make an appointment to see the teacher. (The homework notebook can be
used for this purpose, if desired). “Ambushing” the teacher is unfair and
will rarely produce satisfactory results. (Full Grievance Procedure in
information booklet & on website)
This annual fundraiser for Goal takes
place tomorrow. Pupils wear jersey of choice and contribute €2 to Goal. If
child does not have a jersey, it doesn’t matter, you can regard it as a
non-uniform day.
