Sam Visits SST (by Sarina and Megan)

Mickey  Harte visited our school on Friday the13th of  February. He came all the way down from Tyrone to talk to us. Mickey Harte is the manager of the Tyrone GAA team. Another man came with him whose name was Cuthbert Donnelly. They brought the Sam Maguire and the Tom Markham Cup with them.

Tyrone won the Sam Maguire 3 times within 5 years. One child from every class asked Mickey a question. This is the 125th year of GAA.

Snowy Springs

Snow.jpg

This month we had a wonderful adventure. Snow fell heavily for the first time in 8 years. We could not go outside for break as the yards had  a white blanket of snow covering them. Children watched through the windows amazed at the sight  that was before them. Many children made snow men big, small fat and skinny they might have used different items to decorate instead of the usual items such as carrots, coal, scarves and top hats.

Peter Rabbit. Next Stop: Broadway

Ms. Wyley and Ms. Kelly's Senior Infants put on a superb play. The acting was outstanding for their age. Every single part was just as important as the others. We would like to thank the teachers Ms. Wyley and Ms. Kelly  helping them prepare.

The story of Peter Rabbit” is about a little rabbit who is a mischievous  little bunny. He was told not to go into Mr. McGregor's garden but disobeys his mother and ventures in. But he  makes a lucky escape. His mother was very disappointed  with him.

Seachtain na Gaeilge le Louise

Tá Seachtain na Gaeilge ag teacht.

And that means so is the Céilí, with a mixture of marches by the younger classes and dances, music and sports shows by the older classes, it’s sure to be a week of fun! Oh, and don’t  forget the Ceol Sa Foyer on the 9th-13th march. Play, dance and sing your hearts out! Bígí ann!

Confirmation news by Rachel

The Confirmation classes recently took their Pledge at mass and are one step closer to making their Confirmation! Next up is the Ceremony of Light on the 8th March, with Fr. Andrew. The classes bring up their Baptismal Candles themselves, showing that they are more independent than when they  made their Baptism. The Confirmation is then on the 28th March. Good luck!
