The Battle Of Hastings

When: 1066 14th October.

Where: Hastings, England.

Who: Harold the second of England and Duke William of Normandy.

Why: The Battle of Hastings started because Duke William of Normandy challenged Harold the second of England to conquer England.

How: Duke William built huge boats and sailed to England. He then declared war on King Harold. They built a fort inside pevensey Roman fort. He took his army around the bay and to the east, just below which is Hastings. King Harold was excommunicated by the Pope but William wasn’t. By this time the Catholics of England were against Harold.

Outcome/Results: Harold was shot in the eye by an arrow. Normandy had then occupied England.
