Our Art Project by Kiera and Aisling

Scoil San Treasa’s 4th class have made recycled sculptures, mostly out of things that would otherwise  have been thrown away. Their Artist in Residence, Jackie Ball, has helped them with their birds since the beginning. They visited the National History Museum. They brought their sketch-pads and sketched various different animals, but mainly birds

Back at school they got into their groups and sketched an image of their soon-to-be creatures. Then they brought their creatures to life over a period of weeks, using mostly recycled materials.

Some of the birds are the North Pacific Flame-Face and Axen. They are made out of paper maiche, large cardboard rolls, plaster of paris, lollypop sticks, loo rolls, tissue paper, beads, contact, ect.
