The King with the Donkeys Ears!

One day a messenger called to a poor old widows house. He had come to ask her if her son would cut the kings hair. She was very worried because any one that went in there never came out. The women decided to pay a visit to the king herself. She pleaded to the king not to kill her son. He agreed on one condition that he was not to tell any living person the king’s secret. The next day the son arrived to cut the kings hair. He was so surprised when he saw the king’s ears he nearly had to laugh. He was a clever boy and knew his life depended on this so he said nothing. As time passed his mother noticed her son had become unwell. So she decided to send for a druid. Soon enough the druid thought of a solution.  “He must go to the tall willow tree by the stream and tell them his secret. But don’t worry they are not a living person. So the boy did as he was told and immediately it like a heavy weight had been lifted from his shoulders. That was not the end of the story. A few days later his Harper went to cut some wood for a new harp. That night when he began to play for the king and other chieftains a strange music came from the harp. “The king, the king, has donkey’s ears, has donkey’s ears,” it sang. His secret was revealed. At first the king was terrified, but when he saw that no one was afraid of him, or laughed at him, he knew that he would never have to hide his donkey’s ears again.
