One
day Eithne was picking blue bells from the Lios in the field behind her house
.Her brother said not to that she would anger the fairies but she didn’t
listen. She brought the beautiful bluebells home to her mother. Who left them on
the window ledge knowing the fairies would be angry. When Eithne lay down to
sleep in her bed, it was filled with nettles. Her mother knew that the fairies
would punish her daughter. Eithne tried her brother Connor’s bed but it to was
full with nettles. Her parents brought her to a wise old lady. Who knew much
about the subject.’ The fairies will be difficult to please but if someone in
your family does a good deed for them they may remove the nettles’ she said.
So the family started to think what could they do. Then Connor came up with the
idea. That night Connor crept outside to the Lios. He could see little lights
from behind the bush. He could hear music. Connor played the tin whistle himself
so he really liked music. He pulled back the bush and to his surprise he saw the
leprechauns dancing. The leprechauns stopped at the sight of Connor. ‘’ Your
sister disturbed us ‘’, shouted the leprechauns. ‘’I know, I’m here to
say for her she’s sorry please take the nettles away?’’, asked Connor.
‘’No’’
replied the leprechauns. Connor walked away very sad. He began to play a sad
tune on his tin whistle. This time the leprechauns listened and enjoyed it
.’’What can we do to repay you?’’. ’’You can take the nettles from
my sister’s bed’’, said Connor. ’’Of course replied the leprechauns
after that sure’’. And so Connor went home happy. His sister could sleep in
her bed once again and everything was back to normal again. They lived happily
ever after.
