Fast Fact: If the cables were stretched out they would circle the earth 3 times. The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the longest bridges in the world.

Length: Its length is 2824 metres long, which is 9268 feet long.

Width: It is 1280 metres wide, which is 4200 feet wide.

Weight: It weights 894,500 tonnes. Imagine trying to lift that!

Fact: Since it’s opening in 1937 1 million cars have crossed over it.

 

 

 

Quirky Fact: During the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge the safety net saved the lives of 19 men who became known as the Halfway to Hell club
