Building of The Great
Wall of China started in the late 6th
century but was only finished in the 16th.

The Emperor at the time
that the building started got slaves under very strict orders to build the wall.

A slave carried each
brick.
o
The wall was originally built out of
stone, wood, grass and earth.
If mistakes were made slaves would
be shot or pushed off the side of the wall.
o
The reason the wall was
to keep the Mongolians out from attacking the Chinese.
o
It is the only structure
on earth that can be seen from the moon.
o
Today
the wall is a major tourist attraction.
o
It is over 5000km long.
