Food

The Jeanie Jonston was first used as a cargo ship and even when it carried passengers it brought food ect. Back on its return journey from America .All the passengers had to bring all their own cooking utensils and had to queue for the stove .This was the rations for one adult for one week.

Roughly five pints of water

Two pounds of bread or biscuit 

One pound of flour

Five pounds oatmeal

Two pounds of rice

Two ounces tea

Half a pound sugar

And

Half a pound of molasses

 

The Jeanie jJonston was built in Quebec and weight 480 tones by Scottish born ship builder John Munn in 1847.
