Step 1.       We Set Up A Green Committee

There are twenty members of the Green School Committee in Scoil San Treasa.  It comprises two students from each class from First Class up to sixth class, five teachers, two parents and the school caretaker and one Special Needs Assistant.

Green School Committee Members from the student body are selected in September. The selection process required the class teacher to give a summary of the Green Flag programme in general and a more specific run-down on what Scoil San Treasa had done to date in achieving its aim of becoming a Green Flag school. Class members are invited to nominate two of their classmates to the committee. In the even of more than two nominations a class election is held.

The teacher and Special Needs Assistant members and the parent members volunteer membership. The school caretaker was invited to join.

The committee meets once a month – on the last Wednesday of the month- to discuss the work undertaken and to decide on activities for the coming month. The chairperson of the committee takes notes at these meetings. A report on activities is given by a student member of the committee at the monthly school assembly.
