The Sydney Opera House  

Why: We chose the Sydney Opera House because it is not the same as many other buildings. It is located in Sydney, Australia.

Who: A man called Jorn Utzon built it.

When: It was built in the late 50’s to the early 60’s.

Other Facts: The Sydney Opera House has 1500 seats. The hardest part of building it was the roof. One million ceramic tiles cover the triangular shaped roof.

One of the events that took place there was the 2000 Olympics. It took six years to build and furnish.

It cost one hundred million Australian dollars.

 

 

 

More Facts: There are nearly one thousand rooms including the five main auditoriums, also there is a reception hall, five rehearsal studios, four restaurants, six theatre bars, extensive foyer and lounge areas. There are sixty dressing rooms and suites, a library, an artist’s lounge and a canteen known as the ‘Green Room.’
