Germany – before the war

After World War One Germany became a republic. In 1934 the Nationalist Socialist (or Natzi) Party won the election. The leader of this party was Adolf Hitler. Hitler won the support of German citizens by giving powerful speeches. Even young children idolized him and many children joined the Hitler Youth Movement. these were scouting troops for boys and girls. Activities included singing and chanting racist songs and marching in parades children loved this sense of belonging and authority. Many people didn’t realize how racist and wrong Hitler was until during or after the war. This is an example of a chant recited by young girls.” Yes! When Jewish blood drops from the knives things will be good”

The Invasions Begin

  In 1938 Hitler invaded Austria. Later that year he took over czechoslovakia.before he invaded poland he made a deal with joseph stalin. They agreed to share poland between them.

September 1 1939

Hitler invades Poland. Britain and France protest but Hitler refuses to withdraw. Two days later on the 3^rd Britain and France declare war on Germany. By the end of the war 1 in 5 poles were dead!

The Battle of Britain

In 1940 the Germans began operation sealion the invasion of britian.this was called the blitz and was fought in the sky over London. After a few months Hitler called off sealion and started to invade Russia. He got together with Italy and Japan they were the axis forces. Britian, Russia and France were the allies

In 1941 the Japanese attacked pearl harbour in America. This was when the USA joined the war. The use joined the allies

Hitler dies 

On the 29^th April 1945 Hitler married his girlfriend Eva bruan. The next day the two committed suicide. The Germans surrendered on may 7^th

At midnight on the 8^th may ww2 officially ended!!!
